5k Miles On My Recalled Motor!

I just rolled over 5,000 miles on the recalled motor.
My engine in the 2022 Tundra was replaced by Bill Wright Toyota back in October 2025, and so far… nothing. The truck drives great and I have no major complaints.

There are a lot of rumors out there about recalled motors failing again and all kinds of horror stories, but speaking as an actual owner and enthusiast, I can honestly say I’m having zero issues so far.

I do plan on sending out an oil analysis when I change the oil at this 5k-mile mark, just to check for any wear metals. Other than that, the truck runs smooth and feels solid.

Here are a few things I personally do for peace of mind:

1. I turn off auto start-stop.
Most engine wear happens during startup, so I try to minimize that as much as possible.

2. I don’t let the truck sit and idle unnecessarily.
With reports of variable oil pressure being on the low side in these trucks, I avoid extended idling unless I’m at a stoplight or parked for less than about five minutes.

3. I let the engine see higher RPM from time to time.
A lot of modern direct-injection engines tend to build up carbon, and occasionally running it through the RPM range helps keep things cleaner.

Hopefully there are many more trouble-free miles ahead.
