JBA Offroad here!

The whole thing started when a lifted Jeep Liberty kept killing upper control arms. Instead of accepting it, Al Handy, an engineer, decided to build something better. His first set went on his own 2002 Liberty in 2004, using ideas pulled from oval track race cars. From there, the design kept evolving as weak points were addressed and improvements were made.

We took over the company in 2007 and continued refining the arms, updating the ball joint design and expanding options for both lifted and stock-height Libertys. As development continued, the focus shifted toward understanding what actually made Jeep’s IFS work correctly. After years of testing and building increasingly extreme lift setups, it became clear that spring rate was the key. That led to the first production Liberty lift using coil-over struts with variable-rate springs.

Over time, applications expanded to other Jeep platforms, including WK, XK, and even the lowered SRT8 models. The product line grew, the shop grew, and eventually the name changed to JBA Offroad as Toyota applications were added. In 2019, the decision was made to cut everything else and focus entirely on control arms, allowing production to be streamlined and inventory kept on the shelf.

That focus led to continued refinement, including the development of a greaseable bushing design that earned a U.S. patent in 2022. Today, the goal remains the same as it was at the start: build parts that actually solve suspension problems and hold up long-term in real use.

We have two different options for the 3rd Gen Tundra. They both accomplish the same thing, but one is for 1-3.5" of lift, and the other for 4-12" of lift.

1) JBA HD Upper Control Arms (4″–12″ lift)
These are heavy-duty tubular upper control arms built to work with bigger lifts that use a cradle drop style (4″ to 12″). They’re pre-assembled, bolt in using factory mounts, and include robust ball joints and greaseable bushings to handle bigger suspension angles and maintain proper geometry with big lifts.

2) JBA HD HC Upper Control Arms (1″–3.5″ lift)
This set is aimed at trucks with smaller spring or leveling lifts (about 1″–3.5″). They also come ready to install, use heavy-wall steel, and include high-angle ball joints and greaseable EZ Lube bushings. These arms help restore alignment and improve suspension travel on moderately lifted Tundras.

Both options are designed to improve front suspension geometry after lifting and use greaseable bushings with replaceable ball joints, and both ship pre-assembled and ready to bolt on.
