Had a pretty strange experience with my 2025 Tundra recently and figured I’d post it here in case anyone has seen something similar. I went out for a quick desert run with a few friends and did about 25 minutes of what I would consider spirited off-roading. Nothing crazy, but definitely pushing the truck harder than normal. When we stopped to hang out for a bit, one of my buddies noticed there was a trail of oil behind my truck. I crawled underneath and saw a decent amount of fresh oil coming from somewhere behind the OEM skid plate. It wasn’t pouring out, but it was clearly leaking, and there was oil all over the bottom of the truck. Since I was fairly close to home, I drove straight back while keeping an eye on everything. No warning lights, no oil pressure warnings, and the truck ran completely normal. The next morning I drove over to a friend’s house so we could take a closer look (we were also installing some fog lights). Still no warning lights and the truck sounded totally normal. We tried to find the leak but nothing was dripping at idle and even revving it a bit didn’t show anything obvious. With oil everywhere it was nearly impossible to pinpoint where it might have came from. We let the truck cool down and checked the oil. When I pulled the dipstick there was no oil on it at all. So we started refilling it. First quart, nothing on the dipstick. Second quart still nothing. Third quart, we suddenly heard a noise and to our horror all of that oil was dumping straight out underneath the truck. At that point it was obvious something had failed somewhere and there was no driving it. I called a tow truck and had it taken to the dealership. Dealer inspected it and said a gasket/seal around the base of the dipstick tube had blown, which allowed oil to dump out from the bottom of the tube. They repaired it under warranty and everything has been completely normal since. What’s strange is the truck never threw any warning lights or low oil pressure warnings, and it drove perfectly normal the whole time. Our guess is that since the dipstick is more mid engine there was still 2 or so quarts left of oil, but still amazed that the truck was completely content driving with basically no oil. I guess it was living up to its Toyota Legacy there. The truck had around 26k miles at the time. Running 35s with a preload lift, and serviced at 24,500. Nothing has done to the motor in terms of mods. Usually I have my professional camera with me but this caught me off guard. Attached what I have below. Curious if anyone else has seen or heard of something like this on the 2022+ trucks, especially after off-roading. Feel free to comment below and I'll answer any questions to the best of my ability.
