2023 TRD Off Road SR5 4X4
Hey everyone,
I’m currently in the market for a front steel bumper for my 3rd Gen Tundra (2023 TRD Off-Road), and I’ve been doing some serious research — but I’d love to hear from others who have already made the leap.

There are quite a few brands out there offering solid options for our trucks: CBI Offroad, Westcott Designs, Cali Raised, Expedition One, Body Armor 4x4, Ironman 4x4, and Fab Fours — just to name a few. Each one seems to have its own style, mounting setup, and features, but I want to make sure I’m not just going off looks.

Here’s what I’m personally considering:
1. CBI Offroad Steel Bumper (Full-Width)
  • Pros: Clean, aggressive look. Well-known for high-quality builds and trail-tested strength.
  • Cons: Higher price point, and I’ve heard lead times can be a bit long.
2. Westcott Designs Modular Bumper
  • Pros: Lightweight steel-modular design, clean low-profile fit, and you can add accessories over time.
  • Cons: Doesn’t offer as much frontal protection as full-width bumpers — more of a mid-height trail bumper.
3. Cali Raised LED Bumper
  • Pros: Integrated lighting options, winch-ready, good price point.
  • Cons: Not as beefy as other brands in terms of metal thickness or trail protection.
4. Expedition One RangeMax Bumper
  • Pros: Heavy-duty, full-featured bumper with winch mount, recovery points, and optional grille guard.
  • Cons: Definitely on the heavier side — may require front suspension adjustments.
5. Fab Fours Premium or Vengeance Series
  • Pros: Mean, custom look with lots of armor. Unique styling if you’re into that.
  • Cons: Some say it’s overkill for mild off-roading, and the aggressive styling isn’t for everyone.
What I’m Looking For:
  • Must be winch-ready
  • Good approach angle (I do some mild off-roading and desert trail runs)
  • Doesn’t throw off the look of the truck — needs to flow well with the 3rd Gen front end
  • Bonus if it has light bar integration or clean spots for pod lights
  • Preferably not something that will drop my MPGs even more or require immediate suspension upgrades
So here’s where I’d love input from the community:
Which steel bumper are you running on your 3rd Gen Tundra and why did you choose it?
How was the install process? Any trimming or modification needed?
What are the real-world pros and cons you’ve noticed since the upgrade (weight, ride quality, protection, etc.)?
Photos, suggestions, and lessons learned are all welcome. I want something functional and trail-ready, but I’m not trying to turn the front end into a tank either.

Looking forward to hearing what’s worked for you all!
