I was turned onto this by one of the guys in a Facebook group.

First, for context, I have a 2022 Limited with the JBL system. Personally, I’m not a big fan of these pre-built audio systems like JBL (or similar) because they don’t really give you a clean upgrade path later if you want to add your own amp or speakers.

The system has always sounded a little off to me. I wouldn’t say the JBL system sounds bad, but it’s kind of like taking music that’s meant to be played in 2-channel and forcing it through a 7-channel setup—you end up losing some of the detail and notes in the process.

Someone in the Facebook group suggested going into the audio settings and turning off Virtual Surround Sound. They were right—that was it. It’s basically post-processing from the JBL system to simulate surround sound, but for my personal listening preference, it sounds much better with it turned off.

Give it a shot.
