Wanted to share my personal experience with ICON Vehicle Dynamics in case it helps someone in the Tundra or off-road community make an informed decision.
I installed ICON’s Stage 4 kit on my 2023 Platinum Tundra in December 2024. Everything went on clean, but even at that point, ICON had already sent a missing part — which I made work around without delaying the install. Annoying, but I let it slide.
Fast forward to under 5,000 miles later, and both of my rear shocks completely failed — not just one. During regular off-road use (nothing aggressive — small desert whoops), the top stem nuts backed off. I know how to check hardware. I verify torque before going out. Everything was set correctly.
The shocks ripped out of the mounts, and under compression, they punched straight up into my truck bed, leaving visible damage. That’s not wear and tear — that’s a critical failure.
ICON’s response?
They asked for pictures. Claimed it didn’t appear to be a defect because “the threads looked intact.” No ownership. No urgency. No responsibility. Just a polite brush-off. They said they’d send me new hardware — worth maybe $30 — and expected that to be a resolution.
What’s worse?
I didn’t wait on them. I ordered new hardware myself. And guess what? With brand-new ICON hardware, I tested the top nuts at just 35 ft-lbs of torque and they were already starting to strip. That’s not normal — not on a suspension system people trust to take off-road.
I’ve kept quiet until now because I know there are a lot of die-hard ICON fans in the community. I get it — the brand has a reputation, the look, the marketing. But when shit hits the fan, they’re not buddy-buddy with you. You’re on your own.
So I’m speaking up now, not to bash for the sake of it, but because people deserve to know what can happen. I used to recommend ICON to others — but after what I’ve seen and how I’ve been treated, I won’t ever run their product again.
This is your truck, your money, your safety. Think twice.
