2023 TRD Off Road SR5 4X4
Hey fellow Tundra owners – I’ve been seriously thinking about upgrading the front seats in my 3rd Gen Tundra. Right now, I’ve got the basic non-electronic cloth seats, and they’re functional, but let’s be real – they don’t exactly scream premium. I recently came across a set of TRD Pro leather electronic seats at a local junkyard and now I can’t stop thinking about the swap.

Here’s why I think this upgrade would completely elevate the interior:
  • Visual Impact: The TRD Pro seats, especially in black with red stitching or TRD embroidery, add a whole new level of style. They immediately give the truck a higher-end, sportier feel that matches the aggressive look of the exterior.
  • Material Upgrade: The leather (or SofTex depending on the year) feels more refined and is way easier to clean. It’s a game changer for anyone with kids, pets, or a muddy weekend lifestyle.
  • Comfort Boost: Power-adjustable seats add way more customization for driver comfort, especially on longer trips. Plus, the bolstering on TRD Pro seats is noticeably better – more supportive without being stiff.
  • Modern Feel: Going from manual adjustments to electronic adds a layer of modern convenience. It’s one of those upgrades that you didn’t know you needed until you’ve experienced it.
A few practical things I’m looking into before pulling the trigger:
  • I’ll need to verify if the existing wiring harness supports the electronic features (power, lumbar, etc.). I’ve read some trucks are pre-wired, others need splicing or aftermarket solutions.
  • I want to be sure I don’t trigger any airbag light or seat occupancy sensor issues. That’s something I’ll check with a tech or maybe find a bypass module if needed.
  • Mounting points should be the same, but I’ll confirm that with measurements before buying.
This upgrade isn’t just about function – it’s about making the inside of the truck feel like it matches the build quality I’m putting on the outside. After all the work I’ve done on suspension, lighting, and wheels – the stock seats just feel like the one piece that’s holding the interior back.

If anyone’s done this swap (especially using TRD Pro take-offs from a junkyard), I’d love to hear how it went, what I should prep for, and if it was worth it.
