Hey everyone,
I’ve started noticing a rattle coming from my panoramic sunroof on my ’22 Tundra. It doesn’t happen all the time, but when the truck hits a bump just right, I get this annoying rattle above my head. It’s driving me a little crazy.
Did some quick Googling and it looks like I’m not the first one to run into this issue:
Reddit thread on 2024 Tundra panoramic sunroof rattle
From what I’ve read, people are saying the noise comes from “unbonded glue / tacky adhesive issues”. Supposedly there’s a fix where the dealer pulls the headliner and installs new adhesive. Others mentioned engineering is aware that the headliner can loosen and that the rattle often shows up near the panel joint because of body flex.
Here’s where I’m stuck:
My truck is out of warranty, so I don’t know if I should just bite the bullet and take it to the dealer.
Or if this is something I could realistically tackle at home (if it’s as “simple” as re-bonding adhesive).
Has anyone here dealt with this rattle? Did the dealer take care of it for you, or did you go DIY? If DIY, what materials/adhesive did you use and did it hold up?
Would love to hear how others have handled this before I decide which way to go.
