- 2022 Limited DCLB TRD Offroad
Hello Yall,
I wanted to chat about getting a TRD Offroad package verus not on the Tundra. First lets start off that this package from the factory is a $3580 upgrade. So what do you get for the money and is it worth it?
Let me start off with that my limited truck has this package and I specifically looked for this package for the rear locker feature. I to quite of bit of offroading and hunting and a rear locker is a valuable tool to have. Now let's talk about what you get.

1. Upgraded Suspension with Bilstein Shocks
The TRD Off-Road swaps out the standard shocks for Bilsteins, which are tuned to better handle rough terrain and washboard roads. I had Radflo 2.5 coils on my Tacoma and definitely want to upgrade this Tundra in the future just to be more "boatier" I like to have absolute comfort.
2. Electronic Locking Rear Differential
This is a game-changer when traction gets tricky. Engaging the locker helps the truck crawl through mud, snow, sand, or uneven terrain by evenly sending power to both rear wheels. This feature alone to add at aftermarket would cost almost the same cost as the whole TRD package.
3. Multi-Terrain Select & Crawl Control
Exclusive to the TRD Off-Road, these electronic aids give you confidence when the road disappears. Multi-Terrain Select adjusts throttle and traction for surfaces like rock or mud, while Crawl Control works like low-speed cruise control for technical sections. Personally don't use these features often but would like to try them again in the 2022+ revisions.
4. Skid Plates & Underbody Protection
The package adds skid plating under key areas like the engine and fuel tank. It’s extra peace of mind when you’re off-road, but they are practically useless and you should upgrade to real armor if you plan to go offroad.
5. Distinct TRD Styling
TRD Off-Road trucks get unique wheels, badging, and accents that set them apart visually. For a lot of owners, the TRD “look” is just as appealing as the function. It feels like a factory-built adventure rig.

6. Stronger Resale Value
Used buyers often seek out trucks with TRD packages, and they can command a premium on the resale market. If you’re thinking long-term, this package helps your truck hold value better than a base SR5 without it.
7. The Best Balance of Daily + Adventure Use
Not everyone needs a TRD Pro, but the Off-Road package hits a sweet spot. You get meaningful trail capability without sacrificing comfort, making it perfect for owners who split time between pavement, hunting trips, and weekend adventures.
Final Thoughts
The TRD Off-Road Package isn’t just marketing — it adds real capability and convenience to the Tundra. Some of it is actually functional like the rear locking and style points. But a lot of it you may want to upgrade in the future depending how you use your truck. Just like the skid plates and the shocks.
