When it comes to lighting setups, especially for off-road or overland builds, the options are endless—but getting creative with gear that delivers performance and style is what really sets a rig apart. That’s exactly what I did on my 3rd Gen Tundra by repurposing a set of Yotabeast Amber Fog Lights as chase lights, and honestly, I’m more than satisfied with the results.

Now before you say “wait… fog lights as chase lights?”, hear me out.

The Yotabeast amber fogs are crazy bright, yet not so overpowering that they blind anyone behind you on dusty trails or at night. That’s key for chase light applications where visibility and safety are crucial. Instead of going with a traditional LED bar setup or universal rear pod lights, I wanted something compact, clean, and unique. The Yotabeast fogs checked all those boxes.

Installation was pretty straightforward. I mounted the amber fogs on a custom rear bracket setup just under my rear bumper. I ran the wiring through loom and heat shrink, then routed them into my Auxbeam 8-gang switch panel. With one dedicated button labeled “CHASE,” I’ve got full control from the cab whether I’m trail running at dusk or convoying through Baja-style dust clouds.

The amber hue cuts through dust like a blade, and the focused beam pattern ensures that the lights are effective without being overkill. Unlike wide flood pods that sometimes spill light into areas where you don’t want it, the fog light beam stays exactly where I need it—low and targeted. That helps keep the glare down for drivers behind me while still being fully visible.

Plus, Yotabeast lights are built like tanks. Sealed tight, waterproof, and rugged enough to take a hit, they hold up to the abuse we all know a 3rd Gen Tundra sees when it’s actually used for what it’s made for. I’ve blasted through mud, sand, and even a couple deep water crossings—zero issues so far.

What I also like is the OEM+ look. Since these lights are originally designed to blend in cleanly with the front end of a Toyota, they don’t look out of place mounted in the rear. Most people don’t even realize what they are until they see them in action.

Overall, I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a non-traditional chase light solution that’s sleek, effective, and easy to install. It’s one of those small mods that actually makes a huge difference during real-world driving scenarios.

Whether you’re running night trails, leading a group through the desert, or just want to be seen better when braking in heavy dust—this setup delivers.

If you’re curious about mounting tips or want to see how it looks on my rig, drop a comment or DM. Always down to share what’s working!
