2023 TRD Off Road SR5 4X4
Let’s talk about one of the most defining choices in any truck build: color. For me, the decision was easy. The moment I laid eyes on Army Green, I knew that was the one. It’s bold, aggressive, and screams purpose. My 3rd Gen Tundra in Army Green has not only become a head-turner—it’s become a reflection of everything I want this build to represent: ruggedness, adventure, and capability.

The Army Green color first hit the scene with Toyota’s TRD Pro lineup, and it quickly became a fan favorite. Why? Because it’s different. It doesn’t blend into the sea of silver, white, and black trucks on the road. It stands out without being flashy. It’s understated—but in the best, most tactical way.

On the trail, Army Green just hits differently. Whether I’m out in the SoCal desert, cruising through pine forests, or exploring Baja, this color blends in with nature while still looking like it belongs in a military convoy. It fits the overland and off-road lifestyle perfectly, and it gives off that “ready for anything” vibe even when parked in the driveway.

One of the biggest bonuses? It hides dirt and dust extremely well. I’ve taken this rig through some nasty terrain—mud, silt, Baja beach sand, you name it—and I don’t have to rush to the wash bay every time. Even when it’s dirty, it still looks good. Compared to black or white (which show everything), Army Green stays looking fresh longer.

Now let’s talk aesthetics. Pairing this color with blacked-out trim, dark wheels, and smoked lighting gives the truck a stealthy, aggressive look. I run black Method Race Wheels with a 0 offset and it gives the truck a wider stance, which pairs beautifully with the deep, matte quality of Army Green. Add in some Baja Designs amber lighting, dark-tinted windows, and the Rave Off Road roof rack, and you’ve got a truck that looks just as good as it performs.

Another thing I’ve noticed is how this color performs in different lighting. In bright sun, it shows off some subtle metallic flake that adds dimension to the paint. At night or under shadows, it gets darker and even more tactical-looking. It gives off that “don’t mess with me” energy that I absolutely love.

People ask me all the time at gas stations, meets, and trailheads: “Is that a factory color?” or “Man, that green is sick—what’s it called?” It’s that rare balance between custom and factory, where it feels like something special even though it came right off the lot.

Army Green is also a color that’s built to last. Unlike trendy finishes or bright wraps that fade or go out of style, this one has staying power. It’s timeless. And when you’re investing in a truck that you plan to keep for years—maybe decades—that matters.

If you’re still debating your color choice for your Tundra build, or you’re thinking of wrapping your truck, I’ll just say this: Army Green is for those who want a truck that works hard and looks like it’s ready for battle. It’s functional, photogenic, and fits the off-road community like a glove.

This build isn’t just about performance—it’s about personality. And Army Green says all the right things without needing to yell.
