- 2023 TRD Off Road SR5 4X4
Hey everyone! I’m in the middle of deciding on my next small but impactful mod for my 2022+ Tundra, and I’d love to hear your thoughts. Right now, I’m torn between two options: the OEM black exhaust tip and the NYTOP Titanium Axle Dump exhaust tip.
The OEM Black Exhaust Tip
Let’s start with the OEM option. I’ve always liked how clean and subtle the black exhaust tip looks. It’s designed to fit perfectly with the stock exhaust, and it’s a nice, simple upgrade that just works. The black finish gives it a bit of that stealthy look without drawing too much attention – perfect if you’re going for that clean, factory-plus vibe.
One of the biggest pros for me is that it’s OEM. You know it’ll fit right out of the box, there’s no messing around with clamps or alignment issues, and it won’t interfere with the exhaust warranty. Plus, it’s relatively affordable compared to some of the bigger exhaust upgrades, so it’s a fun way to add a bit of personality to the rear end without breaking the bank.
The NYTOP Titanium Axle Dump Tip
On the other hand, the NYTOP Titanium Axle Dump exhaust tip has me seriously intrigued. First off, it looks absolutely wild. The titanium finish with those heat-color shifts can really pop in the sun, and it gives the truck a much more aggressive, race-inspired look. The axle dump design also tucks the exhaust out of sight, which can clean up the rear profile and add a bit of rugged edge to the truck’s appearance.
Functionally, I’ve read that axle dump tips can help reduce drone in some cases, especially if you’re already running an aftermarket muffler or resonator. They also tend to push the exhaust gases downward and away from the back of the truck, which might help keep the rear bumper cleaner if you’re hitting dusty trails or muddy roads.
Debating the Pros and Cons
For me, the big question is: do I want to keep things more refined and low-key with the OEM black tip, or do I want to go for that custom, aggressive edge with the NYTOP? The OEM option is definitely more of a safe bet, and I know it’ll look good no matter what. But the NYTOP tip has that “wow” factor that’s hard to ignore – and it’s something you don’t see on every Tundra.
Another thing I’m considering is how either option will fit with the rest of my build. I’m running a TRD Off-Road setup right now, and I’m planning some other mods down the line, so I’m thinking about how each tip would flow with the overall aesthetic.
Looking for Input!
Has anyone here run either of these exhaust tips? I’d love to hear some real-world feedback: how’s the fitment, the sound, and the overall vibe? I’m leaning one way today and the other way tomorrow – so any insights would be huge.
Let me know which way you’d go and why!
